Letter from

Several additional news reports over the course of
the day have revealed further information about the
administration’s plans to change or rescind the
regulations protecting freedom of conscience for
health care providers. Reuters reports, “the
Department of Health and Human Services sent a
proposal to withdraw the rule to the Office of
Management and Budget on Friday.” And, According to
the AP, an administration official “said the
administration will publish a notice of its
intentions early next week, and open a 30-day
comment period for advocates, medical groups and the
public.”
Once the 30 day
comment period begins and contact information for
submitting comments is provided, groups may wish to
organize efforts to generate grassroots comments.
Comments could include postcards, emails and letters
highlighting the importance of protecting the
choices of healthcare providers who oppose abortion
and the need for regulations to implement laws that
protect the freedom of conscience. If conscience
laws are not implemented and enforced, health care
providers may be driven out of the practice of
medicine thereby only adding to healthcare
shortages, and reducing or eliminating women’s
options to choose pro-life medical care.
Right now all of the National groups are getting
behind the Christian Medical Society (CMS) to
coordinate their “Get the Word Out Efforts”. It is
really important to get the word out to Christians
and direct them to the CMS web-site; so they may
send their message to Pres. Obama.
CMS needs to be able to show the
Courts and possibly the US Supreme Court, if they
agree to review it; that millions have voiced the
opposition to rescind the Conscience Clause.
Thank you for all of
your help.
